Understanding Stripe Payouts & Donation Records

Kind Kiosk partners with Stripe to process payments. This article explains how the connection works and how to read your donation records. For where to find your donations in Stripe, see Accessing Kind Kiosk Donations in Stripe; for fees, see Processing Fees: Explained.

How Kind Kiosk connects to Stripe

Donations are processed through a Stripe connection set up during onboarding. Funds go to your bank account, but the connection is managed through Kind Kiosk — so any existing Stripe integrations or settings you already had won’t automatically carry over. If you have questions about your specific setup, reach out to us.

When you get paid

Stripe’s default payout schedule is a rolling period after a transaction. Because of this, you’ll often see two dates associated with a gift: the donation date (when the donor gave) and the payout date (when the money reaches your bank).

Why some donations show no donor name

Tap-to-pay and chip (contactless/EMV) card payments don’t transmit the cardholder’s name. As a result, donations may appear in Stripe as “valued card member” rather than the donor’s name. To collect donor names, ask donors to enter their contact information in the donation workflow — see Anonymous vs. Named Donations.

“Incomplete” transactions

If someone taps around on a kiosk but never presents a card, Stripe may record an incomplete transaction. These are expected and are intentionally hidden in your Kind Kiosk Dashboard so your reporting stays clean — so you may occasionally see entries in Stripe that don’t appear in Kind Kiosk.
